Mrs. King is a Tennessee native with two children and two grandchildren. Her husband, Larry King, Sr., died in the line of duty in 1998.

Mrs. King is a graduate of West Tennessee Business College. In addition to her employment with Lane College, Jackson, TN, she also is the Choir Director and Youth Choir Director at the New First Baptist Church. Mrs. King also teaches voice and is the president of the Crockett County Community Choir. She is a member of the NAACP, a member of TNT Mime group and the director of the WOP choir.

Having worked with the Foundation as a volunteer since 1999, Mrs. King was recently appointed as a member of the Advisory Board.
