The first annual Hero's 5K Run/Walk to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation was held on Saturday, August 12, 2006, on the grounds of the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

The event was a senior project organized by Graham Johnson, who attends Fairfield High School. The Johnson/Gladhill family and the Foundation thank all who participated.

The day was picture perfect with temperatures in the high 70's. A total of 137 participants were registered, many of them students at the National Fire Academy. Ages ranged from 5 to 60+ and included runners and walkers alike.

The individual times for all runners/walkers who completed the course are listed. The male/female top finishers as well as the age category winners are as follows:
