Thanks to ongoing support from three Federal agencies, the Foundation continues to provide a variety of programs and services to the fire service family.

• The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), U. S. Department of Justice, continues to assist us to expand the outreach of the Fire Service Survivors Network, enhance our Web site, and offer more grief-related resources.

  We hope to increase online information so families and departments of fallen firefighters can access information on benefits and resources immediately. Expanded outreach will help families and departments through the days and months after a death.

  Resources for fire departments would mean offerings of Taking Care of Our Own® and materials and resources on the best ways to assist all survivors after a line-of-duty death or serious injury.

• The Department of Homeland Security's United States Fire Administration continues its support of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.

  This makes it possible to host the national tribute on the National Fire Academy campus, broadcast both the Candlelight and Memorial Services live via satellite, and make the beautiful campus available for the Weekend events.

  Year-round, the Fire Administration maintains the National Memorial and the Walk of Honor® and provides office space for the Foundation on the Emmitsburg campus.

• The National Institute of Standards and Technology, part of the Department of Commerce, awarded a multi-year grant. This grant will help the Foundation establish a national research agenda to support line-of-duty death prevention.

  We appreciate the support shown by these three federal agencies and the United States Congress for the Foundation and America's fire service family.
